First Claim
1. A syringe adaptor adapted for connection to a syringe and adapted for connection to at least one other element of a drug handling system, said syringe adaptor comprising:
- a septa housing;
at least one septum enclosed in said septa housing;
a generally cylindrical main body portion having side surfaces;
an outwardly protruding arm extending from a forward portion of each of said side surfaces and defining at an inner facing forward end thereof a tooth; and
a hollow needle, including a tip located in said septa housing when said syringe adaptor is not connected to said at least one other element of said drug handling system,said septa housing being rearwardly movable relative to said main body portion, and thereby relative to said hollow needle, to expose said tip.

A drug mixing system including at least one receptacle port adaptor adapted to be inserted into a port of a fluid receptacle, at least one syringe adaptor adapted to be attached to a syringe and to the at least one receptacle port adaptor and at least one vial adaptor adapted for connection to a vial containing a drug and adapted for connection to the at least one syringe adaptor, the system being characterized in that at least one of the receptacle port adaptor, the at least one syringe adaptor and the at least one vial adaptor being vented to the atmosphere in a manner which prevents release to the atmosphere of possibly harmful contents of the vial in a liquid, solid or gaseous form.

a generally cylindrical main body portion having side surfaces; an outwardly protruding arm extending from a forward portion of each of said side surfaces and defining at an inner facing forward end thereof a tooth, said tooth having a transversely extending rearward facing surface, said arm and said tooth being adapted for snap engagement with said at least one other element of a drug handling system; a housing element; and a needle, said main body portion surrounding said housing element; said snap engagement pushing said housing element rearwardly relative to said main body portion, a tip of said needle being located within said housing element prior to said snap engagement; and said snap engagement causing said tip of said needle to protrude from said housing element. - View Dependent Claims (16, 17, 18, 19)
