Attachment assembly for an exercise device and an exercise device incorporating the same
First Claim
1. An exercise device comprising:
- a housing having a first end and a second end opposite the first end;
wherein the first end is configured to be engaged by a user;
a resistance assembly provided within the housing;
a first hook and a second hook provided at the second end of the housing, wherein the first and second hooks are each substantially J-shaped and configured to selectively attach the housing to a separate exercise structure;
wherein the first hook includes an arcuate first section and the second hook includes an arcuate second section; and
a gap is defined between the arcuate first section and the arcuate second section; and
wherein the housing has a longitudinal axis extending between the first and second ends thereof; and
a longitudinally-extending first leg on the first hook is connected to a top member provided on the second end of the housing; and
a longitudinally-extending second leg on the second hook is connected to the top member a lateral distance from the first leg.

Abstract
An attachment assembly for an exercise device and a method of using the same. The device includes a first end and a second end; a first J-hook defining a portion of the second end; and a second J-hook defining a portion of the second end; wherein the first and second J-hooks are releasably attach the device to a separate exercise structure. The method includes providing a ring on the exercise structure, wherein the ring defines an aperture; affecting relative movement of the ring relative to an exercise assembly, defining a gap between two inverted J-hooks; positioning the ring in the gap beneath two ends of the J-hooks; affecting a relative rotation of the ring relative to the two J-hooks such that the ring is beneath a J-hook passageway defined by a downwardly facing concave surface on each J-hook; and engaging the ring with the concave surface on each J-hook.

15. A method of attaching an exercise device to an exercise structure, said method comprising the steps of:
-
providing an attachment member on the exercise structure, wherein the attachment member defines an aperture; providing an attachment assembly at one end of the exercise device;
where the attachment assembly includes a top member with a first hook extending outwardly therefrom such that a first space is defined between the top member and a free end of the first hook;providing a second hook on the attachment assembly, where the second hook extends outwardly from the top member and a second space is defined between the top member and a free end of the second hook, wherein the first and second hooks open in opposite directions and a gap is defined between the first and second hooks; and positioning the attachment member by inserting the attachment member into the gap between the first and second hooks and then rotating the exercise device so that the attachment member enters the first and second spaces and moves into a passageway defined beneath arcuate sections of both of the first and second hooks; and engaging the attachment member with a concave surface of the first hook and a concave surface of the second hook, where the concave surfaces are positioned opposite the top member. - View Dependent Claims (16, 17)

18. A method of attaching an exercise device to a separate exercise structure comprising the steps of:
-
providing an exercise device having two inverted hooks at one end, where the hooks are spaced apart and define a vertical gap between them, and further defining a transverse passageway beneath arcuate portions of the hooks; moving the hooks in a first direction to position a ring attached to the exercise structure in the vertical gap; rotating the hooks about a longitudinal axis of the exercise device; and moving the hooks in a second direction opposite the first direction to engage the arcuate portion of the hooks with the ring such that the ring extends through the transverse passageway. - View Dependent Claims (19)
