1. A method for controlling signal transmission in a plurality of radio units coupled to a digital unit where the digital unit is located in centralized location and is spatially separated from the plurality of radio units, and each one of radio units is located at a corresponding service call area with an antenna and each forms an independent cell different from cells formed by neighbor radio units, the method comprising:

  • receiving, by the digital unit, from multiple radio units, signal quality measurements of a user equipment located within an overlapping service area among cells of the multiple radio units;

    determining, by the digital unit, whether to simultaneously use at least two of the multiple radio units located in different cells to transmit a data signal to the user equipment based on the received signal quality measurements; and

    controlling, by the digital unit, at least two of the multiple radio units in different cells to transmit a same data signal to the user equipment using a same channel based on the determination result,wherein the controlling includes allocating one of a same symbol and a same subcarrier to the at least two of multiple radio units to transmit the same data signal when orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is employed.
