1. A flushmount luminaire configured to be flush mounted on a mounting surface, comprising:
- a light source comprising a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs);
a combination heat spreader and heat sink disposed in thermal communication with the light source such that the combination heat spreader and heat sink facilitates transfer of heat away from the LEDs;
a power conditioner structurally configured and disposed to receive AC voltage from an electrical supply and to provide DC voltage to the plurality of LEDs;
the combination heat spreader and heat sink having an outer dimension that is larger than;
an opening defined by a nominally sized can light fixture; and
, an opening defined by a nominally sized electrical junction box; and
wherein a back surface of the combination heat spreader and heat sink is configured to permit the flushmount luminaire to be flush mounted on the mounting surface.

The flushmount luminaire includes a light source having a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs); a combination heat spreader and heat sink disposed in thermal communication with the light source such that the combination heat spreader and heat sink facilitates transfer of heat away from the LEDs; and, a power conditioner structurally configured and disposed to receive AC voltage from an electrical supply and to provide DC voltage to the plurality of LEDs. The combination heat spreader and heat sink has an outer dimension that is larger than: an opening defined by a nominally sized can light fixture; and, an opening defined by a nominally sized electrical junction box. A back surface of the combination heat spreader and heat sink is configured to permit the flushmount luminaire to be flush mounted on the mounting surface.
