1. A method for transferring a short message service (SMS) message, the method comprising:

  • recognizing, by a first node of a communication network, a preconfigured mobile station integrated services digital network number (MSISDN) included in the SMS message, the preconfigured MSISDN being known to the first node as a trigger that the preconfigured MSISDN does not identify a recipient of the SMS message and to utilize an identifier other than an MSISDN of the recipient of the SMS message;

    identifying, by the first node, an Internet Protocol (IP) address included in a header encapsulating the SMS message upon recognizing the preconfigured MSISDN;

    obtaining, by the first node, an International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) that corresponds to the IP address based on the recognition of the preconfigured MSISDN, the IMSI being associated with a second node of the communication network, the second node being the recipient of the SMS message; and

    routing, by the first node, the SMS message toward a third node of the communication network based on the IMSI.
