1. An apparatus configurable for operation in a wireless device, the apparatus comprising:
- processing circuitry including one or more processors communicatively coupled with memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to;
receive a page message on a first channel of a network;
perform an idle mode handoff to a second channel of the network;
receive one or more overhead messages on the second channel of the network;
update one or more network parameters based on information included in the one or more overhead messages received on the second channel of the network; and
send a response message, responsive to the page message received on the first channel, to the network on the second channel.

Abstract
A method for responding to a page message is provided. The method can include a wireless communication device receiving a page message on a first channel of a first network; suspending a connection to a second network in response to receiving the page message; transitioning to a second channel of the first network prior to responding to the page message; and sending a response message responsive to the page message on the second channel.
