1. A blood pump for intraventricular placement inside a heart of a mammalian subject comprising:

  • a rigid elongate member having a length extending along a member axis between proximal and distal ends and a bore extending along the length;

    an anchor element connected towards the proximal end of the rigid elongate member and adapted to be mounted to the subject'"'"'s heart, the elongate member and anchor element pivotable relative to one another;

    a pump comprising an inlet at a first end and an outlet at a second end, the inlet and outlet positioned on a pump axis, a rotor having a rotor axis coincident with the pump axis, and at least one electric drive coil, spaced laterally from the pump and rotor axes, for magnetically driving the rotor, the pump connected at or adjacent to the distal end of the rigid elongate member remote from the anchor element, the rotor and pump axes offset from the member axis; and

    wiring extending through the bore to the pump,wherein the proximal end of the rigid elongate member is adapted to extend past the anchor element to a position outside of the subject'"'"'s heart.
