Abstract

A communications node operable to communicate with another communications node over a communications channel having a plurality of frequency resources, the communications node includes data defining a division of the communications channel into a plurality of contiguous sub-bands each having N frequency resources, wherein each frequency resource in a sub-band has a corresponding frequency resource in each of the other sub-bands, data defining an initial allocation of the frequency resources, a resource determination module operable to apply a frequency shift to the initially allocated frequency resources in accordance with a frequency hopping sequence to determine frequency resources to use for communicating information with the other communications node, wherein the frequency shift applied moves the initially allocated frequency resources to corresponding frequency resources in another sub-band, a transceiver for communicating information with the other communications node using the determined frequency resource.

Claims

1. A user equipment comprising:

a transceiver circuit configured to receive, from a base station, information which is related to resource allocation; and

a processor configured to determine a communication resource calculated based on A mod B;

wherein the transceiver circuit is further configured to transmit uplink data using the communication resource,

wherein A is determined based on a first value and a second value, wherein B is determined based on the second value, wherein the first value is obtained from the information, and wherein the second value is determined based on an uplink bandwidth.

2. The user equipment according to claim 1, wherein A is determined based on a frequency hopping function.

3. The user equipment according to claim 1, wherein A is determined based on a frequency hopping function multiplied by the second value.

4. The user equipment according to claim 2, wherein the frequency hopping function is a frequency hopping shift defining a number of sub-frames or slots.

5. The user equipment according to claim 2, wherein the frequency hopping function uses a pseudo random hopping sequence.

6. The user equipment according to claim 1, wherein each value calculated by the frequency hopping function is an integer from 0 to S−

1, where S is a number of sub-bands.

7. A method of a user equipment, the method comprising:

receiving, from a base station, information which is related to resource allocation;

determining a communication resource calculated based on A mod B;

transmitting uplink data using the communication resource,

wherein A is determined based on a first value and a second value, wherein B is determined based on the second value, wherein the first value is obtained from the information, and wherein the second value is determined based on an uplink bandwidth.

8. The method according to claim 7, wherein A is determined based on a frequency hopping function.

9. The method according to claim 7, wherein A is determined based on a frequency hopping function multiplied by the second value.

10. The method according to claim 8, wherein the frequency hopping function is a frequency hopping shift defining a number of sub frames or slots.

11. The method according to claim 8, wherein the frequency hopping function uses a pseudo-random hopping sequence.

12. The method according to claim 7, wherein each value calculated by the frequency hopping function is an integer from 0 to S−

1, where S is a number of sub-bands.

13. A communications node comprising:

a transceiver circuit configured to transmit, to a user equipment, information which is related to resource allocation;

a processor configured to determine a communication resource calculated based on A mod B;

wherein the transceiver circuit is further configured to receive uplink data from the user equipment using the communication resource;

wherein A is determined based on a first value and a second value, wherein B is determined based on the second value, and wherein the second value is determined based on an uplink bandwidth.

14. The communications node according to claim 13, wherein A is determined based on a frequency hopping function.

15. The communications node according to claim 13, wherein A is determined based on a frequency hopping function multiplied by the second value.

16. The communications node according to claim 14, wherein the frequency hopping function is a frequency hopping shirt defining a number of sub-frames or slots.

17. The communications node according to claim 14, wherein the frequency hopping function uses a pseudo random hopping sequence.

18. The communications node according to claim 13, wherein each value calculated by the frequency hopping function is an integer from 0 to S−

1, where S is a number of sub-bands.

19. A method of a communications node, the method comprising:

transmitting, to a user equipment, information which is related to resource allocation;

determining a communication resource calculated based on A mod B;

receiving uplink data from the user equipment using the communication resource,

wherein A is determined based on a first value and a second value, wherein B is determined based on the second value, and wherein the second value is determined based on an uplink bandwidth.

20. The method according to claim 19, wherein A is determined based on a frequency hopping function.

21. The method according to claim 19, wherein A is determined based on a frequency hopping function multiplied by the second value.

22. The method according to claim 20, wherein the frequency hopping function is a frequency hopping shift defining a number of sub-frames or slots.

23. The method according to claim 20, wherein the frequency hopping function uses a pseudo random hopping sequence.

24. The method according to claim 19, wherein each value calculated by the frequency hopping function is an integer from 0−

S−

1, where S is a number of sub-bands.
