Abstract

Methods, systems, apparatuses, and/or computer-readable media for providing device management via application modification may be provided. In some embodiments, upon identifying an available wireless network, a determination may be made as to whether the available wireless network comprises an authorized wireless network. In response to determining that the available wireless network comprises the authorized wireless network, a connection may be established with the available wireless network and at least one data communication may be performed via the available wireless network instead of a second network.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

identifying an available wireless network;

determining whether the available wireless network comprises an authorized wireless network that is different from a first wireless network;

in response to determining that the available wireless network comprises the authorized wireless network;

determining whether a request to communicate with the available wireless network is associated with an elevated priority by determining that the request comprises a request to check in with a compliance server with which a computing device is enrolled as a managed device;

initiating a connection with the available wireless network in response to the request being associated with the elevated priority; and

causing at least one data communication associated with the request to be performed through the authorized wireless network.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein determining whether the available wireless network comprises the authorized wireless network comprises determining whether an identifier associated with the available wireless network is included in a list of authorized wireless network identifiers.

The method of claim 1, further comprising determining initiating the connection with the available wireless network in response to determining that the user is associated with an elevated priority by determining that the user belongs to a particular user group that is associated with the elevated priority.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein by determining whether the user is associated with the elevated priority further comprises determining whether the user belongs to a particular user group that is associated with the elevated priority.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining that the request is associated with the elevated priority by determining that a location associated with a device associated with the request is within a specified geographic area.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining that the request is associated with the elevated priority by determining that a current time is within a particular time window.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining that the request is associated with the elevated priority by determining that the request is associated with an emergency condition.

8. A system comprising:

a computing device; and

an application executable by the computing device, the application configured to cause the computing device to at least;

identify an available wireless network;

determine whether the available wireless network comprises an authorized wireless network that is different from a first wireless network;

in response to determining that the available wireless network comprises the authorized wireless network;

determine whether a request to communicate with the available wireless network is associated with an elevated priority by determining that the request comprises a request to check in with a compliance server with which the computing device is enrolled as a managed device;

initiate a connection with the available wireless network in response to the request being associated with the elevated priority; and

cause at least one data communication associated with the request to be performed through the authorized wireless network.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the application determines whether the available wireless network comprises the authorized wireless network by determining whether an identifier associated with the available wireless network is included in a list of authorized wireless network identifiers.

10. The system of claim 8, wherein the application initiates the connection with the authorized wireless network in response to determining that the user is associated with an elevated priority.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein the application determines whether the user is associated with the elevated priority by determining that the user belongs to a particular user group that is associated with the elevated priority.

12. The system of claim 8, wherein the application determines that the request is associated with the elevated priority by determining that a location associated with the computing device is within a specified geographic area.

13. The system of claim 8, wherein the application determines that the request is associated with the elevated priority by determining that a current time is within a particular time window.

14. The system of claim 8, wherein the application determines that the request is associated with the elevated priority by determining that the request is associated with an emergency condition.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising an application, the application, when executed, causing a computing device to at least:

identify an available wireless network;

determine whether the available wireless network comprises an authorized wireless network that is different from a first wireless network;

in response to determining that the available wireless network comprises the authorized wireless network;

determine whether a request to communicate with the available wireless network is associated with an elevated priority by determining that the request comprises a request to check in with a compliance server with which the computing device is enrolled as a managed device;

initiate a connection with the available wireless network in response to the request being associated with the elevated priority; and

cause at least one data communication associated with the request to be performed through the authorized wireless network.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the application determines whether the available wireless network comprises the authorized wireless network by determining whether an identifier associated with the available wireless network is included in a list of authorized wireless network identifiers.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the application initiates the connection with the authorized wireless network in response to determining that the user is associated with an elevated priority by determining that the user belongs to a particular user group that is associated with the elevated priority.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17, wherein the application determines whether the user is associated with the elevated priority by determining that the user belongs to a particular user group that is associated with the elevated priority.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the application determines that the request is associated with the elevated priority by determining that a location associated with the computing device is within a specified geographic area.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the application determines that the request is associated with the elevated priority by determining that a current time is within a particular time window.

21. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the application determines that the request is associated with the elevated priority by determining that the request is associated with an emergency condition.
