1. A glass article, comprising:

  • a first glass surface, a second glass surface and a glass body, wherein the glass of the glass body extends from the first glass surface to the second glass surface;

    a plurality of discrete layers of metallic silver formed in the body, each of the plurality of discrete layers of metallic silver having a thickness T such that 100 nm≦

    T≦

    250 nm; and

    a layer of compressive stress extending into the glass body of the glass article, the layer of compressive stress having a depth of layer DOL of up to about 60 μ

    m and magnitude of compression CS≧

    200 MPa,wherein a first layer of the plurality of discrete layers of metallic silver is spaced apart from the first glass surface by a distance D, wherein D≦
