1. A method of remotely monitoring an operational status of a plurality of electronic discharge devices in an air purification system, comprising:

  • sensing an operational characteristic of said plurality of electronic discharge devices;

    determining an operational status of said plurality of electronic discharge devices based on the operational characteristic sensed; and

    indicating the operational status of said plurality of electronic discharge devices based on said determining,wherein said plurality of electronic discharge devices comprises a first group of electronic discharge devices and a second group of electronic discharge devices and said operational characteristic is a difference between one or more electrical properties of said first group of electronic discharge devices and said second group of electronic discharge devices;

    wherein said operational characteristic is a difference in the relative current of said first and second groups of electronic discharge devices;

    wherein determining an operational status of said plurality of electronic discharge devices comprises determining whether said difference in the relative current of said first and second groups of electronic discharge devices exceeds a predetermined threshold; and

    wherein said predetermined threshold of current differential between the first and second groups of electrical discharge devices is between 5% and 10%.
