1. A method for managing social awards, comprising:
- (a) operating a game of chance on a gaming machine associated with a first user;
(b) determining whether a social award has been earned through playing the game of chance on the gaming machine;
(c) generating the social award if the determining (b) determines that a social award has been earned, the social award being a non-monetary award that is for use with a social game, the social game being a non-wagering game that is distinct from and not associated with the game of chance played on the gaming machine;
(d) determining if the social award is to be transferred to at least one remote recipient; and
(e) transferring the social award to the remote recipient if the determining (d) determines that the social award is to be transferred.

Abstract
In one embodiment, a system, apparatus, and method for social gaming may include a gaming machine configured to play a game of chance and produce game information. A social gaming server can be configured to communicate with the gaming machine, may establish a remote gaming session between the gaming machine and a user device, and may distribute the portion of the game information to the user device.

7. A social gaming server, comprising:

a social game session manager configured to; establish a social game session between a gaming machine associated with a first user and at least one user device associated with at least one remote user; transmit an input request to the at least one user device; determine if an input is received from the at least one user device within a predetermined period of time in response to the input request; acquire gaming information from the gaming machine, the gaming information associated with at least one game of chance; determine portions of gaming information to be distributed to the at least one user device if it is determined that an input is received from the at least one user device within the predetermined period of time, wherein the first user and the at least one remote user are capable of interacting with the social game session; and initiate transfer of the portions of gaming information to the at least one user device to allow the first user and the at least one remote user to concurrently play the at least one game of chance; and a social game manager configured to host a social game for use with the social game session. - View Dependent Claims (8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19)
