Abstract

The present invention relates to zcytor17lig polynucleotide, polypeptide and anti-zcytor17 antibody molecules. The zcytor17lig is a novel cytokine. The polypeptides may be used within methods for stimulating the immune system, and proliferation and/or development of hematopoietic cells in vitro and in vivo. The present invention also includes methods for producing the protein, uses therefor and antibodies thereto.

Claims

1. An isolated polynucleotide encoding a monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof that specifically binds to a polypeptide consisting of amino acid residues 27-164 of SEQ ID NO:

2. The isolated polynucleotide of claim 1, wherein the monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof is humanized.

3. The isolated polynucleotide of claim 2, wherein the humanized, monoclonal antibody comprises a human immunoglobulin constant domain.

4. The isolated polynucleotide of claim 2, wherein the humanized, monoclonal antigen-binding fragment further comprises a human immunoglobulin constant domain.

5. The isolated polynucleotide of claim 1, wherein the monoclonal antibody or antigen binding fragment is human.

6. The isolated polynucleotide of claim 1, wherein the monoclonal antibody is chimeric.

7. The isolated polynucleotide of claim 1, wherein the monoclonal antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof inhibits the signal transduction induced by the polypeptide through its receptor.

8. An expression vector comprising the following operably linked elements:

a) a transcription promoter;

b) a DNA segment comprising the polynucleotide of claim 1; and

c) a transcription terminator.

9. A recombinant host cell comprising the expression vector of claim 8.

10. The recombinant host cell of claim 9, wherein the host cell is prokaryotic.

11. The recombinant host cell of claim 9, wherein the host cell is eukaryotic.

12. The recombinant host cell of claim 11, wherein the eukaryotic cell is yeast.

13. The recombinant host cell of claim 11, wherein the eukaryotic cell is mammalian.

14. The recombinant host cell of claim 13, wherein the mammalian host cell is Chinese hamster ovary.

15. A method of producing an antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof comprising:

culturing a cell according to claim 9 under conditions whereby the antibody or antigen-binding fragment encoded by the DNA segment is expressed; and

recovering the antibody or antigen-binding fragment.
