Utilizing known data for status signaling
First Claim
1. A communication system configured to utilize transmissions of known sequences to indicate quality of operating points, comprising:
- a first transceiver configured to transmit a 1st known sequence, for a 1st duration, responsive to identifying a quality degradation in operating point of the first transceiver;
a second transceiver configured to reply with a 2nd known sequence, for a 2nd duration, responsive to receiving the 1st known sequence;
wherein each of the 1st and 2nd durations is longer than round trip delay between the first and second transceivers; and
responsive to identifying a quality degradation in operating point of the second transceiver, the second transceiver is further configured to transmit the 2nd known sequence, for the 2nd duration, and then the first transceiver is configured to reply with the 1st known sequence for the 1st duration;
wherein the first transceiver is configured to utilize the 2nd known sequence to recover from the quality degradation in the operating point of the first transceiver faster than the first transceiver could recover without receiving the 2nd known sequence; and
the second transceiver is configured to utilize the 1st known sequence to recover from the quality degradation in the operating point of the second transceiver faster than the second transceiver could recover without receiving the 1st known sequence.

Abstract
System and method for utilizing transmission of known sequences to indicate qualities of operating points of first and second transceivers. One method includes the following steps: transmitting a first known sequence by a first transceiver upon identifying a quality degradation in its operating point; and replying with a second known sequence by a second transceiver upon receiving the first known sequence. The method further includes the steps of transmitting the second known sequence by the second transceiver upon identifying a quality degradation in its operating point, and replying with the first known sequence by the first transceiver.
