1. A method of improving the growth of plants belonging to the family Cannabaceae sensu stricto, the method comprising:

  • providing at least one plant belonging to the family Cannabaceae sensu stricto having plant roots and a plant shoot;

    providing a plant growing apparatus configured for growing the at least one Cannabaceae sensu stricto plant, the plant growing apparatus including a plant nutrient solution about the plant roots and a gas mixture circulating about the plant shoot;

    selecting a plant nutrient solution temperature to produce a root temperature for the at least one plant;

    selecting a gas mixture temperature to produce a shoot temperature for the at least one plant; and

    controlling a temperature differential between the root temperature and the shoot temperature during different phases of plant development,wherein the temperature differential is at least approximately 15°

    F. during one portion of vegetative growth phase of the at least one plant lasting at least 30 days and being continuous throughout the at least 30 days of the vegetative growth phase; and

    wherein the temperature differential is approximately 0°

    F. during another portion of the vegetative growth phase of the plant, such that the change in the temperature differential improves growth of the at least one plant.”

    was changed to providing and maintaining a temperature differential of at least approximately 10°

    F. during a portion of vegetative growth phase of the at least one plant lasting at least 30 days and being continuous throughout the at least 30 days of the vegetative growth phase;

    wherein the gas mixture temperature is below the plant nutrient solution temperature;

    transitioning to and maintaining a temperature differential of approximately 0°

    F. during a remaining portion of the vegetative growth phase of the at least one plant, such that the change in temperature differential improves growth of the at least one plant;

    wherein the remaining portion is approximately 45 days.
