1. An apparatus for release and deployment of a therapeutic device having a retaining portion within the vasculature of a patient, comprising:

  • an elongated, flexible tubular pusher member having a distal end, a distal portion, a proximal portion, and an interior lumen extending from said distal portion to said proximal portion of said elongated, flexible tubular pusher member, said distal portion including at least one port proximal to said distal end;

    a connector member detachably retaining the therapeutic device to the elongated, flexible tubular pusher member for placement of the therapeutic device within the vasculature, said connector member passing through said lumen to said at least one port;

    an elongated proximal member extending along the elongated, flexible tubular pusher member;

    a releasing ring disposed adjacent to the connector member, the connector member passing through the releasing ring, the releasing ring being connected to said elongated proximal member, and the releasing ring being configured to break the connector member for releasing the therapeutic device when a longitudinal force is applied on the releasing ring by the elongated proximal member.
