1. An automated external defibrillator system comprising:
- one or more sensors configured to detect initialization of the automated external defibrillator system and receive a signal indicating that rescue treatment is being administered by a user;
a communication unit; and
a processing unit configured to provide multiple prompts, to a user, requesting input related to whether an audio communication channel between the automated external defibrillator system and rescue services should be established, the processing unit further configured to;
in response to receiving a signal, from the one or more sensors, indicating the initialization of the automated external defibrillator system, generate a first prompt requesting user input via a user interface related to whether the rescue services should be alerted;
after receiving a negative response from the user and after a predetermined amount of time, determine whether the signal indicating the rescue treatment is being administered by the user has been received, the determination comprising a detection that at least one of the one or more sensors is attached to a victim, wherein the signal indicating that the rescue treatment is being administered by the user comprises one or more of an ECG signal, a motion sensor signal, an oxygen saturation level signal, a blood pressure measurement signal, a phonocardiography signal, an ultrasound signal, an airflow sensor signal, or an impedance cardiography signal;
responsive to a determination that the signal indicating that the rescue treatment is being administered by the user has been received, generate a second prompt requesting user input via the user interface confirming whether the rescue services should be alerted by the automated external defibrillator system; and
upon receiving a response comprising one of a positive response and no response to the second prompt, send a signal to cause the communication unit to use the communication channel between the automated external defibrillator system and the rescue services.

9. A method comprising:
-
detecting initialization of an automated external defibrillator; in response to detecting the initialization of the automated external defibrillator, generating a first prompt requesting user input via a user interface related to whether rescue services should be alerted; after receiving a negative response from a user and after a predetermined amount of time, determining whether a signal indicating that rescue treatment is being administered by the user has been received, the determining comprising detecting that at least one sensor is attached to a victim, wherein the signal indicating that the rescue treatment is being administered by the user comprises one or more of an ECG signal, a motion sensor signal, an oxygen saturation level signal, a blood pressure measurement signal, a phonocardiography signal, an ultrasound signal, an airflow sensor signal, or an impedance cardiography signal; responsive to a determination that the signal indicating that the rescue treatment is being administered by the user has been received, generating a second prompt requesting user input via the user interface confirming whether the rescue services should be alerted by the automated external defibrillator; and upon receiving a response comprising one of a positive response and no response to the second prompt, sending a signal to cause a communication unit to use a communication channel between the automated external defibrillator and the rescue services. - View Dependent Claims (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20)

16. A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions to cause a computing device to:
-
receive a signal from a device configured to detect initialization of an automated external defibrillator, the signal indicating the initialization of the automated external defibrillator; in response to the received signal, generate a first prompt requesting user input related via a user interface to whether rescue services should be alerted; after receiving a negative response from a user and after a predetermined amount of time, determine whether a signal indicating that rescue treatment is being administered by the user has been received, the determination comprising a detection that at least one sensor is attached to a victim, wherein the signal indicating that the rescue treatment is being administered by the user comprises one or more of an ECG signal, a motion sensor signal, an oxygen saturation level signal, a blood pressure measurement signal, a phonocardiography signal, an ultrasound signal, an airflow sensor signal, or an impedance cardiography signal; responsive to a determination that the signal indicating that the rescue treatment is being administered by the user has been received, generate a second prompt requesting user input via the user interface confirming whether the rescue services should be alerted by the automated external defibrillator; and upon receiving a response comprising one of a positive response and no response to the second prompt, send a signal to cause a communication unit to use a communication channel between the automated external defibrillator and the rescue services. - View Dependent Claims (17)
