Abstract

A fact checking system is able to verify the correctness of information and/or characterize information by comparing the information with one or more sources. The fact checking system automatically monitors, processes, fact checks information and indicates a status of the information. Fact checking results are able to be validated by re-fact checking the fact check results.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

automatically identifying an object depicted in an image;

automatically determining one or more characteristics of the object to compose a first question about the object;

causing to be presented, on a first device, the first question about the object;

receiving, from the first device, a first answer to the first question;

converting, on a system that is remote relative to the first device, at least a portion of the first answer into searchable information;

fact checking, on the system, the first answer by comparing the searchable information with information from one or more sources to determine factual correctness of the first answer to the first question;

causing to be presented, on the first device, a second question about the object in accordance with fact checking results of the first answer;

wherein the method is performed by one or more computing devices.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving the image from the first device, the image acquired by a user using the portable device, and wherein receiving the image initiates presenting the first question.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the second question is a more difficult question than the first question when the first answer is deemed to be factually correct.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the second question is responsive to a factual incorrectness of the first answer.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the second question is responsive to a factual correctness of the first answer.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the second question that is responsive to a factual incorrectness of the first answer is different from the second question that is responsive to a factual correctness of the first answer.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the first question about the object is caused to be presented as part of playing an educational game, and the first and second questions comprise questions to educate a person about the object.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the first question, the first answer, and the second question comprise interactive learning about the object personalized to a user.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one of the first or second questions comprises a historical question, a geography question, or a mathematical question about the object.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the one or more characteristics of the object comprises color, brand, type, or information about the object.

11. One or more non-transitory machine-readable media storing instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, cause:

automatically identifying an object depicted in an image;

automatically determining one or more characteristics of the object to compose a first question about the object;

causing to be presented, on a first device, the first question about the object;

receiving, from the first device, a first answer to the first question;

converting, on a system that is remote relative to the first device, at least a portion of the first answer into searchable information;

fact checking, on the system, the first answer by comparing the searchable information with information from one or more sources to determine factual correctness of the first answer to the first question;

causing to be presented, on the first device, a second question about the object in accordance with fact checking results of the first answer.

The one or more non-transitory machine-readable media of claim 11, wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause receiving the image from a portable device, the image acquired by a user using the portable device, and wherein receiving the image initiates presenting the first question.

13. The one or more non-transitory machine-readable media of claim 11, wherein the second question about the object is a more difficult question than the first question when the first answer is deemed to be factually correct.

14. The one or more non-transitory machine-readable media of claim 11, wherein the second question is responsive to a factual incorrectness of the first answer.

15. The one or more non-transitory machine-readable media of claim 11, wherein the second question is responsive to a factual correctness of the first answer.

16. The one or more non-transitory machine-readable media of claim 11, wherein the second question that is responsive to a factual incorrectness of the first answer is different from the second question that is responsive to a factual correctness of the first answer.

17. The one or more non-transitory machine-readable media of claim 11, wherein the first question about the object is caused to be presented as part of playing an educational game, and the first and second questions comprise questions to educate a person about the object.

18. The one or more non-transitory machine-readable media of claim 11, wherein the first question, the first answer, and the second question comprise interactive learning about the object personalized to a user.

19. The one or more non-transitory machine-readable media of claim 11, wherein at least one of the first or second questions comprises a historical question, a geography question, or a mathematical question about the object.

20. The one or more non-transitory machine-readable media of claim 11, wherein the one or more characteristics of the object comprises color, brand, type, or information about the object.
