1. A device comprising:

  • a processor;

    a memory device which stores a plurality of instructions, which when executed by the processor, cause the processor to;

    (a) receive content from a server, said server being distinct from the processor, and(b) thereafter, cause a service window of a gaming machine display device of a gaming machine to display the received content, the service window being associated with a first portion of the gaming machine display device, and said gaming machine including a gaming machine processor distinct from the processor, said gaming machine processor configured to execute a plurality of gaming machine instructions stored by a gaming machine memory device to cause the gaming machine processor to;

    (i) if a physical item is received via an acceptor, establish a credit balance based, at least in part, on a monetary value associated with the received physical item,(ii) for a play of a game;

    (A) determine a game outcome,(B) cause a second, different portion of the gaming machine display device to display the determined game outcome, wherein the second, different portion of the gaming machine display device is independent of the first portion of the claming machine display device,(C) determine any award associated with the determined game outcome, and(D) cause the gaming machine display device to display any determined award associated with the determined game outcome, and(iii) if a cashout input is received via a cashout device, cause an initiation of a payout associated with the credit balance.
