1. A prosthetic heart valve comprising:
- an annularly collapsible and re-expandable supporting structure extending between an inflow end and an outflow end and including a plurality of struts and a plurality of posts, each post having an elongated opening;
a plurality of leaflets disposed inside the supporting structure and operative to allow flow in a first direction from the inflow end to the outflow end and to substantially block flow in an opposite direction from the outflow end to the inflow end, each of the plurality of leaflets including flaps; and
a first patch covering the opening of a first post, the first patch being attached to a first flap of a first leaflet via a suture extending orthogonal to the first patch, the first patch being disposed radially outward of the first flap.

an annularly collapsible and re-expandable supporting structure extending between an inflow end, an outflow end, an inflow edge adjacent the inflow end, and including a plurality of struts and three posts, each post having an elongated opening that spans substantially a length of the post and a longitudinally-extending bar on each side of the elongated opening; a plurality of leaflets disposed inside the supporting structure and operative to allow flow in a first direction from the inflow end to the outflow end but to substantially block flow in an opposite direction from the outflow end to the inflow end, each of the plurality of leaflets including flaps; and a first sheet circumferentially disposed on an inner surface of the supporting structure and coupled to the supporting structure; a second sheet circumferentially disposed on an outer surface of the supporting structure and coupled to the first sheet adjacent the inflow edge of the supporting structure; a plurality of patches, each of the patches being coupled to adjacent flaps of adjacent leaflets and one of the posts via sutures, each suture being orthogonal to a corresponding patch, and disposed radially outward of both the posts and the flaps of the leaflets. - View Dependent Claims (23, 24, 25, 26, 27)
