1. A method for exploring an underground formation, the method comprising:

  • disposing seismic sensors and electromagnetic sensors according to a predetermined two-dimensional arrangement over the underground formation;

    connecting the seismic and the electromagnetic sensors to stand-alone digital recorders; and

    acquiring jointly seismic and electromagnetic data due to excitations injected in the underground formation, by the stand-alone digital recorders, from the seismic and the electromagnetic sensors, so as at least one of the stand-alone digital recorders to record both the seismic data and the electromagnetic data from one of the seismic sensors and one of the electromagnetic sensor disposed close to one another,wherein at least one of the disposing, connecting and acquiring are performed such that to minimize a seismic-electromagnetic cross-response.
