1. A compact optics module for a head mounted display that includes an eye imaging camera comprising:
- a reflective image source;
a polarized light source that illuminates the reflective image source;
an angled partial reflector that transmits illuminating light and redirects the image light reflected towards an absorptive polarizer and a lens element that converges the image light;
a combiner that redirects the image light, along with transmitted light from the environment, toward a user'"'"'s eye to provide a field of view including a displayed image and a see-through view of a surrounding environment that is viewable by the user'"'"'s eye; and
wherein the eye imaging camera is positioned adjacent to the angled partial reflector to capture light reflected by the user'"'"'s eye and wherein the eye imaging camera is pointed toward the lens element.
