1. A lighting controller device, comprising:
- a wireless interface for wirelessly communicating with a group of lamps and a group of keypads within a residence;
a graphical user interface (GUI) in which a user can (i) select the group of lamps and assign the group of lamps to a scene, and (ii) select a keypad from among the group of keypads and assign the group of lamps with corresponding said scene to a button on the selected keypad;
wherein the GUI, during selection of the group of lamps, transmits via the wireless interface to the group of lamps a first signal that causes a selected lamp within the group of lamps at the residence to emit a first visual signal and a first icon within the GUI to emit a second visual signal, wherein the first icon is shown to represent the selected lamp at the residence; and
wherein the GUI, during selection of the keypad, transmits via the wireless interface to the group of keypads a second signal that causes the selected keypad to emit a third visual signal and a second icon within the GUI to emit a fourth visual signal, wherein the second icon is shown to represent the selected keypad at the residence.

Abstract
A lighting control system and method is disclosed for not only controlling visual content loaded within a group set of illumination devices configured within a wireless network, but also for ensuring minimal control delay to those grouped devices. The lighting control system can include a lighting controller device that controls a plurality of lamps within a mesh network, not only to group those lamps but also to assign content to lamps within that group. The combination of a guaranteed groupcast to each of the group of lamps and an acknowledge back from those lamps that is aggregated over a single path achieves the improved lighting control system disclosed herein.

9. A lighting control system, comprising:
-
a plurality of lamps wirelessly coupled within a mesh network comprising a subset of the plurality of lamps consisting of a group of lamps each having a memory and a processor; a controller comprising; a graphical user interface (GUI) for receiving user input (i) to arrange icons representing the group of lamps within a named group icon having a scene associated with the named group icon, and (ii) to arrange the named group icon and associated scene with a virtual keypad icon; and an interface wirelessly coupled to the group of lamps and a physical keypad corresponding to the virtual keypad icon for (i) downloading a group address to each of the group of lamps (ii) downloading visual content to the group of lamps having the scene associated with the named group icon, and (iii) downloading an address signal to a button on the physical keypad for groupcast actuating the visual content within the group of lamps at substantially the same time. - View Dependent Claims (10, 11, 12, 13)

14. A method for controlling a grouped set of light emitting diode (LED) lamps within a wireless network of lamps, comprising:
-
assigning visual content to a naming indicator representation based on lamp function and location; assigning the grouped set of lamps to the naming indicator representation on a graphical user interface; assigning, on the graphical user interface, the naming indicator representation of the grouped set of lamps to a virtual keypad icon representation of a physical keypad at a residence; and groupcasting a control message from the physical keypad to only the grouped set of lamps at substantially the same time to control said grouped set of lamps based on the assigned visual content. - View Dependent Claims (15, 16, 17, 18, 19)
