Nerve stimulator system
First Claim
1. A method for treating at least one of a condition or a symptom of a patient comprising:
- positioning a stimulation device at a target site adjacent to a nerve within a patient or within a distance from the nerve such that one or more electrical impulses generated with the stimulation device can reach and modulate the nerve within the patient, the stimulation device comprising an antenna and one or more electrodes;
transmitting electrical energy to the antenna;
generating one or more electrical impulses within the stimulation device with the electrical energy;
applying the one or more electrical impulses to the nerve via the electrode, wherein the one or more electrical impulses are sufficient to modulate the nerve and treat the condition or symptom of the patient; and
wherein the one or more electrical impulses have on periods wherein each of the electrical impulses is generated and applied to the nerve and off periods between the electrical impulses, wherein the electrical energy is transmitted to the antenna during the off periods.

Abstract
Devices, systems and methods for treating at least one of a condition or a symptom of a patient by positioning a stimulation device at a target site adjacent to or near a nerve within a patient. The stimulation device comprising an antenna and one or more electrodes. Transmitting electrical energy to the antenna and generating electrical impulses within the stimulation device with the electrical energy and applying the series of electrical impulses to the nerve via the electrode. The electrical impulses sufficient to modulate the nerve and treat the condition or symptom of the patient; and which have on periods where the electrical impulses are generated and applied to the nerve and off periods between the electrical impulses, where the electrical energy is transmitted to the antenna.

15. A stimulation device for treating at least one of a condition or symptom of a patient comprising:
-
an enclosure configured for positioning adjacent to a nerve within a neck of a patient or within a distance from the nerve such that one or more electrical impulses generated with the stimulation device can reach and modulate the nerve within the neck of the patient; an antenna coupled to the enclosure and configured to receive an input signal from a power source located remotely from the enclosure, wherein the input signal comprises electrical energy; a storage device coupled to the antenna and housed within the enclosure, the storage device configured to store the electrical energy; a pulse generator coupled to the storage device within the enclosure and configured to generate one or more electrical impulses based on the electrical energy, wherein the one or more electrical impulses have on periods wherein each of the one or more electrical impulses is generated and applied to the nerve and off periods between the on periods, wherein the pulse generator is configured to generate and apply the one or more electrical impulses such that the electrical energy is received by the antenna and stored within the storage device during the off periods of the one or more electrical impulses; and one or more electrodes housed within the enclosure and coupled to the pulse generator, wherein the one or more electrodes are configured to conduct the one or more electrical impulses to the nerve sufficient to modulate the nerve. - View Dependent Claims (16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23)
