1. An implant, comprising:
- a) a body portion having a first end, a second end, an upper portion having an upper surface adapted to bear upon an upper vertebra, and a lower portion having a lower surface adapted to bear upon a lower vertebra, wherein the body portion tapers substantially continuously posteriorly from the first end to the second end,b) a flange extending vertically from the lower portion,c) a screw extending into the flange, the screw having a longitudinal axis and a head portion, andd) a spring contacting the head portion of the screw, the spring having a longitudinal axis, wherein the longitudinal axis of the screw is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the spring.
