1. A syringe barrel comprising:

  • a wall having a generally cylindrical interior surface defining an inner sliding surface and a lumen;

    a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) primer coating or layer on the wall defining a PECVD treated surface, in which the primer coating or layer consists essentially of SiOxCy, in which x is from about 0.5 to about 2.4 and y is from about 0.6 to about 3; and

    a deposit of fluid lubricant on the PECVD treated surface wherein the fluid lubricant comprises polydimethylsiloxane;

    in which the deposit of fluid lubricant and primer coating or layer is effective to provide a lower frictional resistance between the inner sliding surface and a relatively sliding part than the deposit of fluid lubricant without the primer coating or layer at least one year after the syringe barrel is assembled with a plunger.
