Telemetry monitoring system and a data recovery method for a telemetry monitoring system
First Claim
1. A method of wirelessly monitoring a plurality of users wearing breathing apparatus comprising the steps of:
- wirelessly monitoring a plurality of portable devices, each comprising a personal alert safety system and each associated with a breathing apparatus of a user, using a central monitoring unit which wirelessly receives telemetry data containing information regarding the status of the breathing apparatus and/or the user from each of the portable devices;
displaying the telemetry data received by the central monitoring unit from each of the plurality of portable devices at the central monitoring unit;
storing system status data of the central monitoring unit as recovery data in removable data storage removably connected to the central monitoring unit, wherein the system status data comprises the telemetry data received by the central monitoring unit from each of the plurality of portable devices, and also comprises data generated at the central monitoring unit including information regarding the selection and/or allocation of users into groups during an emergency response, and/or information regarding which of the users are currently logged onto their respective portable device; and
restoring the recovery data from the removable data storage to the original central monitoring unit or a replacement central monitoring unit in the event of a failure of the telemetry monitoring system,wherein said recovery data creates a snapshot of an emergency response situation which, after a failure, is used to restore the original central monitoring unit or a replacement central monitoring unit to the state it was in immediately prior to the failure, thereby allowing the users to be immediately located.

Abstract
There is disclosed a telemetry monitoring system including a central monitoring unit configured to display data regarding one or more portable devices, each associated with the breathing apparatus of a user. The system further includes removable data storage connected to the central monitoring unit and configured to store system status data of the central monitoring unit as recovery data, the system status data defining an operational status of the central monitoring unit. In the event of a failure of the telemetry monitoring system, the telemetry monitoring system can be recovered by restoring the recovery data to the central monitoring unit or a replacement central monitoring unit from the removable data storage.
