Connector and fluid path set for a fluid delivery system
First Claim
1. A fluid path set comprising:
- a multi-patient fluid path section adapted for fluid connection to at least one pressurizing device;
a per-patient fluid path section adapted for fluid connection with a patient and comprising at least one check valve; and
a connector for removably and fluidly connecting the multi-patient fluid path section with the per-patient fluid path section, the connector comprising;
a first connector member at a terminus of one of the multi-patient fluid path section and the per-patient fluid path section, the first connector member comprising an outer housing member and a first luer member having a threaded outer portion, the first luer member being recessed within the outer housing member; and
a second connector member at a terminus of the other of the multi-patient fluid path section and the per-patient fluid path section, the second connector member comprising a second threaded member and a second luer member recessed within the second threaded member,wherein the first luer member and the second threaded member cooperate to securely and releasably connect the first connector member with the second connector member to establish removable fluid connection between the multi-patient fluid path section and the per-patient fluid path section,wherein the outer housing member and the first luer member define an annular cavity open to the atmosphere when the threaded outer portion of the first luer member and the second threaded member are threadably engaged,wherein a liquid-trapping chamber is defined within the annular cavity and bounded by the first luer member, an inner surface of the outer housing, and the second threaded member, and wherein the second threaded member further compromises one or more circumferentially-extended raised structures on an outer surface thereof.

Abstract
A fluid path set and method of use thereof is disclosed. The fluid path set includes a multi-patient fluid path section adapted for fluid connection to at least one pressurizing device, a per-patient fluid path section adapted for fluid connection with a patient, and a connector for removably and fluidly connecting the multi-patient fluid path section with the per-patient fluid path section. The connector includes a first connector member having an outer housing member and a first luer member recessed within the outer housing member, and a second connector member having a second threaded member and a second luer member recessed within the second threaded member. The first luer member and the second threaded member cooperate to securely and releasably connect the first connector member with the second connector member to establish removable fluid connection between the multi-patient fluid path section and the per-patient fluid path section.
