1. A medical system, comprising:

  • a pulse generator configured to generate electrical pulses of an electrical stimulation therapy, wherein the pulse generator includes an N number of output channels;

    an electrode-containing component that includes an M number of electrodes, wherein each of the electrodes is configured to deliver the electrical pulses of the electrical stimulation therapy, and wherein M is greater than N; and

    a relay component that is configured to electrically couple the output channels of the pulse generator to the electrodes of the electrode-containing component;

    wherein;

    the pulse generator includes a microcontroller configured to generate instructions for the relay component;

    the relay component, in response to the instructions from the microcontroller, is configured to;

    electrically couple a first output channel of the output channels to a first electrode of the electrodes at a first point in time;

    electrically couple a second output channel of the output channels to a second electrode of the electrodes at the first point in time;

    electrically couple the first output channel to the first electrode at a second point in time; and

    electrically couple the second output channel to a third electrode of the electrodes at the second point in time, the third electrode being different from the second electrode.
