Abstract

A substrate for use in mass spectrometric analyzes having an array of target locations.

Claims

1. A substrate for use in mass spectrometric analyses, comprising:

a solid support comprising silicon or silicon dioxide;

an array of target locations on a surface of the solid support;

each target location of the array consists of a first material which is a positive photoresist material having a first contact angle and which is resistant to silation;

each target location is surrounded by an area on the surface of the solid support comprising a silane having a second contact angle; and

the first contact angle is at least about 20 degrees less than the second contact angle.

2. The substrate of claim 1, wherein the silane is dimethyldichlorosilane (DMDCS).

3. The substrate of claim 1, wherein the array consists of 24 target locations.

4. The substrate of claim 1, wherein the array consists of 96 target locations or 384 target locations.

5. The substrate of claim 1, wherein the first contact angle is about 70 degrees.

6. The substrate of claim 1, wherein the solid support comprises a silicon wafer.

7. The substrate of claim 1, wherein the areas surrounding the target locations have a second contact angle of about 90 degrees.
