1. An apparatus, comprising:
- one or more processors; and
a memory operatively coupled to the one or more processors for storing instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to associate, without user input, a meal event with a rate of change of monitored analyte level when the rate of change exceeds a predetermined threshold level, to determine if a number of rates of change of the monitored analyte level over a predetermined time period associated with the meal event exceeds a predetermined number, to perform an automated pattern recognition based on the rates of change of the monitored analyte level over the predetermined time period associated with the meal event, and to determine an optimal medication administration profile based on one or more medication administration profiles, the rates of change of the monitored analyte level and the automated pattern recognition when the number of the rates of change of the monitored analyte level over the predetermined time period associated with the meal event exceeds the predetermined number.

11. A method for providing therapy related data management in an analyte monitoring and infusion system, comprising:
-
providing an analyte monitoring and infusion system comprising; an analyte sensor for detecting analyte levels, a transmitter for transmitting analyte levels using a communication link, a remote terminal comprising a processing unit for receiving analyte levels, and an external fluid delivery device in communication with the remote terminal; generating signals associated with a monitored analyte level by the analyte sensor positioned in fluid contact with interstitial fluid under a skin surface; determining, by the processing unit of the remote terminal, a rate of change of the monitored analyte level based on the generated signals received from the transmitter unit; associating, without user input, by the processing unit of the remote terminal, a meal event with the rate of change of the monitored analyte level when the rate of change exceeds a predetermined threshold level; determining, by the processing unit of the remote terminal, if a number of rates of change of the monitored analyte level over a predetermined time period associated with the meal event exceeds a predetermined number; performing, by the processing unit of the remote terminal, an automated pattern recognition based on the rates of change of the monitored analyte level over the predetermined time period associated with the meal event; and determining, by the processing unit of the remote terminal, an optimal medication administration profile based on one or more medication administration profiles, the rates of change of the monitored analyte level and the automated pattern recognition when the number of the rates of change of the monitored analyte level over the predetermined time period associated with the meal event exceeds the predetermined number. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
