1. A communication device, comprising:

  • a memory;

    a matching network including one or more variable reactance elements; and

    a controller coupled with the matching network and the memory,wherein the controller adjusts the one or more variable reactance elements to perform first tuning responsive to a first variable load impedance,wherein the first tuning is iterative and is initiated using a first initial tuning configuration for the one or more variable reactance elements that is selected from a look-up table based on a first physical use state of the communication device and an operating frequency without being selected according to any other parameter identified in the look-up table,wherein the first tuning subsequently utilizes first measured operational parameters for first subsequent tuning values for the one or more variable reactance elements, andwherein the first tuning is limited to avoid certain matching impedance values to ensure that a specific absorption rate limit is not exceeded.
