1. A method of receiving data, comprising:
- receiving a signal comprising one or more preamble blocks and data within a reception bandwidth;
detecting a first preamble block of the one or more preamble blocks in the received signal;
detecting a position of a known sequence of a first Forward Error Correction (FEC) block in the detected first preamble blocks;
determining a length of control information and a start point of the control information in the detected first preambles block, by using the detected position of the known sequence of the first FEC block;
extracting the control information based on the determined length and start point of the control information; and
decoding the data in the received signal based on the extracted control information;
wherein, before transmission of the received signal, any empty portion of each preamble block of the one or more preamble blocks is filled by cyclically repeating at least a part of one or more header-preceded FEC blocks, andwherein each of the one or more FEC blocks is generated by coding and modulating the control information and then adding a header in front of it.

Abstract
A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving a preamble having sequence information for an OFDM system is provided. The preamble transmission method includes generating a preamble block including at least one frame having a header with a known sequence and a code block containing control information and transmitting the preamble block mapped to Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) cells by repeating in frequency axis direction.

7. An apparatus comprising:
-
a tuner which receives one or more preamble blocks and data through a reception bandwidth; a sequence detector which detects a first preamble block of the one or more preamble blocks in the received signal, detects a position of a known sequence of a first Forward Error Correction (FEC) block in the detected first preamble blocks, and determines a length of control information and a start point of the control information in the detected first preamble blocks, by using the detected position of the known sequence of the first FEC block; a control information extractor which extracts the control information based on the determined length and start point of the control information; and a data extractor which decodes the data in the received signal based on the extracted control information; wherein, before transmission of the received signal, any empty portion of each preamble block of the one or more preamble blocks is filled by cyclically repeating at least a part of one or more header-preceded FEC blocks, and wherein each of the one or more FEC blocks is generated by coding and modulating the control information and then adding a header in front of it. - View Dependent Claims (8, 9, 10, 11, 12)
