Abstract

Systems and methods are disclosed for receiving a request to display, on an first communications device, media content, where the request comprises a first logical address for accessing the media content at a first storage location, transmitting to a second communications device, a second logical address for accessing a copy of the media content at a second storage location, where the second logical address differs from the first logical address, and where the second storage location differs from the first storage location. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

performing, by an application server comprising a processor, a search according to a search request for media content from a first media device to generate search results;

delivering, by the application server, search results to the first media device;

receiving, by the application server, a request from the first media device to display the search result on a display of a second media device;

providing, by the application server, the request to an authorization server to determine whether the first media device is authorized to provide media content to the second media device;

reformatting, by the application server, the search result to generate updated media content responsive to receiving the request to display the search results on the display responsive to receiving an authorization from the authorization server;

remotely storing, by the application server, the updated media content remote from the first media device and the application server; and

transmitting, by the application server, a first network address comprising a link to the updated media content to the second media device for accessing the updated media content.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first media device presents the search results via a graphical user interface, and wherein the first media device receives an input from the graphical user interface that includes a selected search result and a selection of the second media device to which the selected search result is to be provided.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the first media device, the application server, and the second media device are communicatively coupled via a network.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the network comprises a packet-based network.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

directing the second media device to present the updated media content responsive to receiving a request from the first media device; and

directing the second media device to present a different media file responsive to receiving a second request initiated by the first media device.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising remotely storing the different media file in a storage device.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the first network address is different from a second network address of the first media device.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the search results include a second network address for accessing the search results, and

wherein the second network address is different from the first network address.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the reformatting comprises resizing the search result according to a specification of the display.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the application server comprises a processing system.

11. A server, comprising:

a processing system including a processor; and

a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, comprising;

collecting a plurality of media content according to a media search request received from a communications device;

receiving a presentation request to present a selected media file at a display device;

providing the presentation request to an authorization server to determine whether the communications device is authorized to provide the selected media file to the display device;

reformatting the selected media file to generate an updated media content responsive to receiving the presentation request responsive to receiving an authorization from the authorization server;

remotely storing the updated media content remote from the communications device and the server; and

transmitting to the display device a first link for accessing the updated media content and for presenting the updated media content.

12. The server of claim 11, wherein the reformatting comprises resizing the selected media file according to a specification of the display device.

13. The server of claim 12, wherein the operations further comprise:

storing the updated media content in a second storage device;

generating a second link to locate the updated media content in the second storage device; and

providing the second link responsive to receiving a request for the updated media content.

14. The server of claim 11, wherein the communications device presents search results according to the media search request via a graphical user interface, and wherein the communications device receives an input from the graphical user interface that includes a selected search result and a selection of another device to which the selected search result is to be provided.

15. The server of claim 14, wherein the operations further comprise:

receiving a second presentation request from the communication device;

generating a second selected media file responsive to receiving the second presentation request; and

forwarding the second selected media file to a second display device responsive to the second presentation request.

16. The server of claim 11, wherein the operations further comprise verifying that the communications device and the display device are associated with a user account.

17. A non-transitory, machine-readable storage medium, comprising instructions, wherein responsive to executing the instructions, a processor performs operations comprising:

requesting a search for media content from an application server;

receiving search results from the application server;

providing the search results via a graphical user interface, wherein the graphical user interface presents additional devices to which a selected search result is provided;

receiving an input from the graphical user interface, wherein the input includes the selected search result and a selection of a second media device from the additional devices to which the selected search result is to be provided; and

providing the selected search result and the selection of the second media device to the application server, wherein the application server reformats the media content according to the second media device to generate updated media content responsive to receiving the search result and the selection of the second media device, wherein the application server stores the updated media content remotely from the processor and the second media device, and wherein the application server transmits location information of the updated media content to the second media device for accessing the updated media content.

18. The non-transitory, machine-readable storage medium of claim 17, wherein the graphical user interface presents the search results as stacked media files, and wherein the location information includes an address of the updated media content.

19. The non-transitory, machine-readable storage medium of claim 17, wherein the application server remotely stores the updated media content remote, and

wherein the application server transmits a network address including a link to the updated media content to the second media device for accessing the updated media content.
