1. A computer-implemented method, in a server device, for providing location-based gaming to mobile gaming units through a wireless network, the method comprising:

  • receiving a request for gaming options from the mobile gaming unit that is capable of determining location information;

    receiving the location information associated with the mobile gaming unit as determined by a combination of location technologies used as inputs, wherein a first location technology used to determine the location information is different from a second location technology and is responsive to a user-initiated gaming session in an application of the mobile unit;

    using the location information to retrieve gaming options corresponding to a first jurisdiction, the first jurisdiction being one of a plurality of jurisdictions and associated with gaming restrictions that are particular to the first jurisdiction;

    sending the gaming options to the mobile gaming unit;

    subsequent to location movement by the mobile gaming unit, receiving updated location information associated with the mobile gaming unit as determined by the combination of location technologies;

    confirming that the mobile gaming unit remains in the first jurisdiction; and

    responsive to confirming that the mobile gaming unit remains in the first jurisdiction, allowing the mobile gaming unit to continue with a selected gaming option or to select a new gaming option.
