1. A wireless interactive entertainment system for entertaining a guest as part of an interactive entertainment experience carried out within a compatible entertainment facility, said wireless interactive entertainment system comprising:
- a wireless tracking device configured to be carried or worn by said guest while participating in said interactive entertainment experience, said wireless tracking device comprising first and second radiofrequency (RF) transmitters configured to transmit first and second wireless signals, respectively, each comprising an identifier configured to uniquely identify said guest;
a first interactive entertainment effect arranged at a first location within said entertainment facility and a second interactive entertainment effect arranged at a second location within said entertainment facility;
a first RF receiver configured to receive said first wireless signal from said first RF transmitter, and wherein said first RF receiver and said first RF transmitter have a wireless communication range of less than 60 cm;
a second RF receiver configured to receive said second wireless signal from said second RF transmitter, and wherein said second RF receiver and said second RF transmitter have a wireless communication range of between 10 feet and 100 feet; and
a master control system communicatively coupled to each said first and second RF receivers and each said first and second interactive entertainment effects, and wherein said master control system;
(i) actuates said first interactive entertainment effect when said first RF receiver receives said first wireless signal, and (ii) actuates said second interactive entertainment effect when said second RF receiver receives said second wireless signal.

A method of interactive game play is provided wherein a seemingly magical wand toy is provided for enabling a trained user to electronically send and receive information to and from other wand toys, a master system and/or to actuate various play effects within a play environment. The toy wand or other seemingly magical object is configured to use a send/received radio frequency communications protocol which provides a basic foundation for a complex, interactive entertainment system to create a seemingly magical interactive play experience.

8. A wireless tracking device for tracking a guest within a facility and for enabling said guest to wirelessly actuate one or more interactive effects as part of an interactive entertainment experience carried out within said facility, said wireless tracking device comprising:
a portable token configured to be carried or worn by said guest while participating in said interactive entertainment experience, said portable token comprising one or more batteries and electronic circuitry comprising; non-volatile memory that stores an identifier uniquely identifying said wireless tracking device; an antenna that generates power by inductive coupling when exposed to an externally-generated electromagnetic field; a first radiofrequency (RF) transmitter that transmits a first wireless signal comprising said identifier to a first RF receiver over a first wireless communication range of less than 60 cm and wherein said first RF transmitter is electrically coupled to said antenna and is powered by said externally-generated electromagnetic field; and a second RF transmitter that transmits a second wireless signal comprising said identifier to a second RF receiver over a second wireless communication range of between 10 feet and 100 feet and wherein said second RF transmitter is powered by said one or more batteries. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14)

a wireless tracking device carried or worn by said guest while participating in said interactive entertainment experience, said wireless tracking device comprising first and second radiofrequency (RF) transmitters configured to transmit first and second wireless signals, respectively, each comprising a guest identifier; a first interactive entertainment effect at a first location within said facility and a second interactive entertainment effect at a second location within said facility; a first RF receiver configured to receive said first wireless signal from said first RF transmitter, and wherein said first RF receiver and said first RF transmitter have a wireless communication range of between 1 cm and 25 cm; a second RF receiver configured to receive said second wireless signal from said second RF transmitter, and wherein said second RF receiver and said second RF transmitter have a wireless communication range of between 10 feet and 100 feet; and a master control system communicatively coupled to each said first and second RF receivers and each said first and second interactive entertainment effects, and wherein said master control system;
