1. A device including a controller having a plurality of crash determining processing paths that are configured to process input samples, the device comprising:
- a first crash determining processing path of the plurality of crash determining processing paths of the controller that is configured to receive the input samples that are generated from a sensor signal of a crash sensor and to determine a crash in a first crash severity regime based on an amount at which the input samples exceed a first threshold value; and
a second crash determining processing path of the plurality of crash determining processing paths of the controller that is configured to receive the input samples that are generated from the sensor signal of the crash sensor and to determine the crash in a second crash severity regime based on a quantity of samples within a sequence of the input samples that exceed a second threshold value.
