- receiving a packet and a segment identifier (ID) stack at a first segment routing enabled node, whereinthe segment ID stack comprises a plurality of segment IDs comprising a first area-segment ID,the first area-segment ID identifies a first area of a subdivided segment routing enabled network, andthe first area comprises a first two or more nodes within the subdivided segment routing enabled network, but does not comprise the first segment routing enabled node;
selecting an egress interface of the first segment routing enabled node based on the first area-segment ID; and
forwarding the packet via the selected egress interface.

Abstract
A method, apparatus, and computer readable medium are disclosed. In one embodiment of the method, a packet and a segment ID stack is received at a first segment routing enabled node. The segment ID stack includes a plurality of segment IDs, one or which is a first area-segment ID that identifies a first area of a subdivided segment routing network. An egress interface of the first segment routing enabled node is selected based on the first area-segment ID. Thereafter, the packet is forwarded via the selected egress interface.

14. An apparatus comprising a first segment routing enabled node, the first segment routing enabled node comprising:
