1. A method of operation of a self-powered power sensor (SSPS), the method comprising:

  • checking periodically if a reservoir capacitor of a SSPS is adequately charged for the purpose of switching from an energy harvesting mode of the SSPS to a current sensing mode of the SSPS;

    switching to the sensing mode upon determination that the reservoir capacitor is adequately charged to power the SSPS in the current sensing mode;

    repeating a plurality of times a sampling at a predetermined rate a plurality of samples of a current of a secondary winding of a current transformer (CT) of the SSPS;

    determining a current value respective of the plurality of samples of the current of the secondary winding, and a time synchronization signal, the time synchronization signal being configured to account for an internal drift of a clock of a microcontroller to be smaller than an allowed error in a current to voltage phase measurement; and

    transmitting the current value and the time synchronization signal so that a receiver determines at least an electrical parameter.
