1. An apparatus for multispectral imaging, comprising:

  • a cyclopean camera arrangement comprising at least two spaced apart imaging sensors operating at a first waveband;

    an image combiner arranged to combine images from the at least two spaced apart imaging sensors to provide a first cyclopean image of a scene from a first virtual position;

    a further imaging sensor operating at a second waveband different from the first waveband and arranged to provide a second image of the scene from a second position;

    image combining means arranged to combine the first cyclopean image and second image of the scene to provide a multispectral image;

    means for selecting objects of interest within the scene; and

    depth sensing means configured to determine a depth or distance of objects and surfaces in the scene from differences between the images from the at least two spaced apart imaging sensors operating at the first waveband;

    wherein the first virtual position of the cyclopean camera arrangement and the second position of the further sensor are arranged to be substantially the same; and

    wherein either the first waveband is infrared and the first cyclopean image is represented via a false color palette or the second waveband is infrared and the second image is represented via a false color palette; and

    the false color palette used to represent either the first cyclopean image or the second image extends only over the range of temperatures observable within a range of interest, the range of interest corresponding to depths between a specified minimum depth and a specified maximum depth.
