System and method for recording waypoint images along a route
First Claim
1. A route logging system, comprising:
- a geographic location server located on a network and having access to a waypoint database, wherein the waypoint database includes location data associated with one or more geographic waypoint locations, and wherein the location data associated with each of the one or more geographic waypoint locations includes the respective geographic position;
a user profile server located on the network and having access to a user profile database, wherein the user profile database includes user profile data associated with a plurality of user profiles, wherein the user profile data includes at least one or more route logs, wherein each of the one or more route logs comprises one or more instances of waypoint location metadata, each associated with a corresponding geographic waypoint location, and wherein at least one of the one or more instances of waypoint location metadata is a waypoint image;
a mobile client device having access to the network and associated with one or more of the plurality of user profiles, wherein the mobile client device has instructions stored thereon to cause the mobile client device to communicate with the geographic location server and the user profile server, wherein the mobile client device is configured to determine when the mobile client device is within a threshold distance of one or more of the respective geographic positions of one or more geographic waypoint locations, and wherein when the mobile client device determines that the mobile client device is within a first threshold distance of a geographic position of a respective one of the one or more geographic waypoint locations, the mobile client device updates a respective route log of the one or more route logs with respective waypoint location metadata associated with the respective one of the one or more geographic waypoint locations; and
one or more image recording devices, wherein each image recording device is configured to record waypoint images.

Abstract
The present disclosure is directed to a route logging system. The route logging system includes a geographic location server, a user profile server, a mobile client device, and image recording device(s). The geographic location server has access to a waypoint database. The user profile server has access to a user profile database, which includes a plurality of user profiles each including at least one route log. Each route log includes at least one waypoint image. The mobile client device is associated with one or more of the plurality of user profiles included in the user profile database. When the mobile client device determines it is within a threshold distance of a specific geographic position, the mobile client device updates the respective route log. The one or more image recording device(s) record waypoint images that can be included in route logs and associated with specific geographic positions.

15. A method for logging a route, comprising:
-
receiving, by a user profile server, a transmission from a mobile client device associated with a user profile indicating that the mobile client device is within a threshold distance of a geographic position of a first geographic waypoint location, wherein the user profile server is located on a network and has access to a user profile database that includes user profile data associated with a plurality of user profiles, and wherein the geographic position is a form of location data associated with the first geographic waypoint location stored within a waypoint database accessible by a geographic location server located on the network; updating, within the user profile database, a corresponding route log with an instance of waypoint location metadata associated with the first geographic waypoint location, wherein the corresponding route log comprises one or more instances of waypoint location metadata, each associated with a corresponding geographic waypoint location, and wherein at least one of the one or more instances of waypoint location metadata is a waypoint image; receiving, by the user profile server, a waypoint image corresponding to the first geographic waypoint location that was recorded by an image recording device; and updating, within the user profile database, the corresponding route log to include the waypoint image corresponding to the first geographic waypoint location. - View Dependent Claims (16, 17, 18, 19)

20. A mobile client device, comprising:
-
a network interface configured to communicate with; a geographic location server located on a network having access to a waypoint database, wherein the waypoint database includes location data associated with one or more geographic waypoint locations, and wherein the location data associated with each of the one or more geographic waypoint locations includes the respective geographic position; a user profile server located on the network and having access to a user profile database, wherein the user profile database includes user profile data associated with a plurality of user profiles, wherein the user profile data includes at least one or more route logs, wherein each of the one or more route logs comprises one or more instances of waypoint location metadata, each associated with a geographic waypoint location, wherein at least one of the one or more instances of waypoint location metadata is a waypoint image recorded by an image recording device, and wherein one or more of the plurality of user profiles are associated with the mobile client device; and instructions stored within a memory that cause the mobile client device to communicate with the location server and the user profile server, wherein the mobile client device is configured to determine when the mobile client device is within a threshold distance of one or more of the respective geographic positions of one or more geographic waypoint locations, and wherein when the mobile client device determines that the mobile client device is within a first threshold distance of a geographic position of a respective one of the one or more geographic waypoint locations, the mobile client device updates a respective route log of the one or more route logs with respective waypoint location metadata associated with the respective one of the one or more geographic waypoint locations.
