1. A washing device comprising:
- a fluid dispenser that operably directs a cleaning fluid to contact one or more objects to be cleaned, the one or more objects to be cleaned being contained by the washing device, the fluid dispenser comprising a manifold dispenser;
a dispensing line directing the cleaning fluid to the fluid dispenser;
a compressed air source;
an air valve selectively controlling flow of air from the compressed air source into the dispensing line;
a cleaning fluid source;
a pump selectively pumping the cleaning fluid from the cleaning fluid source into the dispensing line;
a controller for alternatingly activating (a) the pump to pump the cleaning fluid from the cleaning fluid source into the dispensing line and (b) the air valve to force the cleaning fluid from the dispensing line via the fluid dispenser;
a top compartment capable of receiving the manifold dispenser, wherein the manifold dispenser comprises at least one liquid input and a plurality of liquid outputs that operably direct the cleaning fluid to contact a plurality of laboratory consumables held by a rack;
a middle compartment positioned below the top compartment and comprising a washing chamber capable of receiving fluid output by the plurality of liquid outputs of the manifold dispenser, the washing chamber having a floor comprising a material transparent to ultraviolet (UV) light; and
a bottom compartment positioned below the washing chamber, the bottom compartment having a light source mounted thereto, wherein the light source is capable of outputting UV light in the direction of the washing chamber and through the floor of the washing chamber.

A washing device comprises a fluid dispenser that operably directs a cleaning fluid to contact one or more objects to be cleaned, the one or more objects to be cleaned being contained by the washing device, a dispensing line directing the cleaning fluid to the fluid dispenser, a compressed air source, an air valve selectively controlling flow of air from the compressed air source into the dispensing line, a cleaning fluid source, a pump selectively pumping the cleaning fluid from the cleaning fluid source into the dispensing line, and a controller. The controller alternatingly activates (a) the pump to pump the cleaning fluid from the cleaning fluid source into the dispensing line and (b) the air valve to force the cleaning fluid from the dispensing line via the fluid dispenser.

18. A method for washing laboratory consumables, comprising:

(i) loading one or more objects to be cleaned into a washing device, the washing device comprising; a fluid dispenser that operably directs a cleaning fluid to contact the one or more objects to be cleaned, the fluid dispenser comprising a manifold dispenser; a dispensing line for directing the cleaning fluid to the fluid dispenser a compressed air source; an air valve for selectively controlling flow of air from the compressed air source into the dispensing line; a cleaning fluid source; a pump for selectively pumping the cleaning fluid from the cleaning fluid source into the dispensing line; and a controller; (ii) alternatingly activating, via the controller (a) the pump to pump the cleaning fluid from the cleaning fluid source into the dispensing line and (b) the air valve to force the cleaning fluid from the dispensing line via the fluid dispenser; (iii) directing the cleaning fluid to contact a plurality of laboratory consumables held by a rack, the directing comprising introducing the cleaning fluid into a fluid input and out of a plurality of fluid outputs of the manifold dispenser; (iv) draining the cleaning fluid via a waste drain disposed proximate to a washing chamber configured to receive the cleaning fluid following the contact by the cleaning fluid with the plurality of laboratory consumables; (v) substantially drying the plurality of laboratory consumables; and (vi) exposing the plurality of laboratory consumables to light in an ultraviolet (UV) range, the exposing comprising illuminating a light source to direct the light in the UV range through one or more of a UV transparent floor or one or more walls of the washing chamber. - View Dependent Claims (19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30)
