1. A content translation computer system comprising:

  • a central database repository including one or more computing devices having a processor and a memory accessing a first electronic portal of a first vendor having an electronic catalog providing product options and accessing a second electronic portal of a second vendor having an electronic catalog providing product options, the central database repository being accessible over a computer network;

    a syndication and publishing system, implemented in memory in communication with the central database repository, syndicating at least a portion of the product options from the first catalog with at least a portion of the product options from the second catalog to create scalable syndicated catalogs;

    the central database repository storing the syndicated product options from the first and second catalogs, respectively, according to a scalable electronic object model representing the product options for a multivendor product solution, the object model including parametric objects, graphic objects, document objects, configuration business rules objects and procurement rule objects;

    the configuration business rules objects being stored according to a scalable hierarchy and a meta data system based on;

    (i) sub-product options storing product part replacements, (ii) product accessories compatible with the multivendor product solution, (iii) rules for product building solutions; and

    (iv) product substitution rules for the multivendor product solution;

    one or more user applications stored on a non-transitory computer readable medium, the one or more user applications executing, in memory, in communication with the central database repository, including a bill of materials application, capable of being processed by one or more computing devices having a processor and a memory, the one or more user applications configured to design a multivendor product solution based on at least a portion of the product options from the syndicated catalogs;

    a configurator, executing in communication with the central database repository, implementing the configuration rules that specify certain compatibility requirements of the product options from the first and second catalogs, the configuration rules specifying valid configurations of the first and second product catalogs options for the multivendor product solution, the configurator in communication with the one or more user applications via the communication network, including a bill of materials application, to create the multivendor product solution using at least a portion of the product options from the syndicated catalogs; and

    the one or more user applications providing enhanced capabilities to the central database repository, the one or more user applications implementing changes to the configuration rules, from the first and second vendors, without any custom reprogramming by storing the configuration rules separate from application code of the one or more user applications that are configured to design the multivendor production solution using a portion of the product options from the syndicated catalogs.
