Method and system for providing a service at a current location
First Claim
1. A method for providing a non-emergency service to a user via a software client of an endpoint device, the method comprising:
- receiving, via a processor of the endpoint device, a request from the user to access the non-emergency service via the software client, wherein the non-emergency service comprises a voice over long term evolution network service;
sending, via the processor, to a network service provider in response to receiving the request from the user to access the non-emergency service via the software client, a request for validation of a current location as to a coverage of an emergency service, when the current location was not previously validated for the coverage of the emergency service, wherein the processor is in communication with the network service provider via a non-cellular access network;
determining, via the processor, whether a response is received, from the network service provider, indicating that the current location is validated for the coverage of the emergency service, wherein the response includes an address identifier associated with the current location for accessing the emergency service;
performing, via the processor, a registration with the network service provider via the software client at the current location, when the response is received indicating that the current location is validated for the coverage of the emergency service; and
enabling, via the processor, the user to access the non-emergency service via the software client at the current location when the registration is performed.

Abstract
A processor receives a request to access the service via the software client. The processor sends to a network service provider a request for validation of a current location as to a coverage of an emergency service, when the current location was not previously validated for the coverage of the emergency service. The processor determines whether a response is received from the network service provider, indicating that the current location is validated for the coverage of the emergency service, wherein the response includes an address identifier associated with the current location for accessing the emergency service. The processor performs a registration with the network service provider via the software client at the current location, when the response is received indicating that the current location is validated for the coverage of the emergency service and enables the user to access the service via the software client at the current location.

16. An apparatus for providing a non-emergency service to a user via a software client of the apparatus, the apparatus comprising:
-
a processor; and a computer-readable storage device storing a plurality of instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations, the operations comprising; receiving a request from the user to access the non-emergency service via the software client, wherein the non-emergency service comprises a voice over long term evolution network service; sending to a network service provider in response to receiving the request from the user to access the non-emergency service via the software client, a request for validation of a current location as to a coverage of an emergency service, when the current location was not previously validated for the coverage of the emergency service, wherein the processor is in communication with the network service provider via a non-cellular access network; determining whether a response is received from the network service provider, indicating that the current location is validated for the coverage of the emergency service, wherein the response includes an address identifier associated with the current location for accessing the emergency service; performing a registration with the network service provider via the software client at the current location, when the response is received indicating that the current location is validated for the coverage of the emergency service; and enabling the user to access the non-emergency service via the software client at the current location when the registration is performed. - View Dependent Claims (17)

18. A non-transitory computer-readable storage device storing a plurality of instructions which, when executed by a processor of an endpoint device, cause the processor to perform operations for providing a non-emergency service to a user via a software client of the endpoint device, the operations comprising:
-
receiving a request from the user to access the non-emergency service via the software client, wherein the non-emergency service comprises a voice over long term evolution network service; sending to a network service provider in response to receiving the request from the user to access the non-emergency service via the software client, a request for validation of a current location as to a coverage of an emergency service, when the current location was not previously validated for the coverage of the emergency service, wherein the processor is in communication with the network service provider via a non-cellular access network; determining whether a response is received from the network service provider, indicating that the current location is validated for the coverage of the emergency service, wherein the response includes an address identifier associated with the current location for accessing the emergency service; performing a registration with the network service provider via the software client at the current location, when the response is received indicating that the current location is validated for the coverage of the emergency service; and enabling the user to access the non-emergency service via the software client at the current location when the registration is performed.
