1. A method of forming a self-decontaminating coating on a surface, comprising the steps of:
- (1) coating a surface with an aqueous mixture comprising 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyldimethyloctadecyl ammonium chloride; and
(2) subsequently coating the surface with an aqueous colloidal suspension of TiO2 thus forming said self-decontaminating coating on said surface,wherein said self-decontaminating coating exhibits a reduction in bacteria after initial inoculation of the coating with bacteria.
