1. A remote control for use with an ambulatory infusion device, the remote control comprising:

  • a housing having a first side and a second side opposite the first side;

    a first button carried by the housing and associated with the first side;

    a second button carried by the housing and associated with the second side;

    visible and/or tactile indicia that distinguishes the first button from the second button;

    transmission means, associated with the housing, for transmitting a bolus delivery request signal to the ambulatory infusion device; and

    a controller associated with the housing and adapted to always prevent communication between the remote control and the ambulatory infusion device in response to the first button being pressed unless the first button is being pressed concurrently with the second button being pressed or during a predetermined period after the second button has been pressed, to allow transmission of the bolus delivery request signal by the transmission means in response to the second button being pressed, and to only control the transmission means to transmit the bolus delivery request signal in response to the first button being pressed concurrently with the second button being pressed or during a predetermined period after the second button has been pressed.
