1. A method, comprising:
- positioning an analyte sensor in fluid contact with bodily fluid under a skin surface to generate signals corresponding to monitored analyte level;
determining a rate of change of the monitored analyte level at a first point in time of a time period;
determining a lag corrected analyte level at the first point in time using the rate of change of the monitored analyte level at the first point in time;
defining a data set associated with the monitored analyte level within the time period;
determining a sensitivity value based on the defined data set;
determining a rate of change of the monitored analyte level at a second point in time subsequent to the first point in time;
applying the determined sensitivity value to signals associated with the monitored analyte level at the second point in time to update the lag corrected analyte level at the first point in time using the determined rate of change at the second point in time; and
estimating a time constant associated with the analyte sensor generating the signals corresponding to the monitored analyte level.

10. An apparatus for providing lag correction of analyte signals from an analyte sensor, comprising:
-
an analyte sensor positioned in fluid contact with a bodily fluid under a skin surface and configured to generate signals corresponding to monitored analyte level in the bodily fluid; a power supply operatively coupled to the analyte sensor and configured to provide power to the analyte sensor to generate the signals corresponding to monitored analyte level; one or more processors operatively coupled to the analyte sensor and the power supply; and a memory operatively coupled to the one or more processors for storing instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to determine a rate of change of the monitored analyte level at a first point in time of a time period;
determine a lag corrected analyte level at the first point in time using the rate of change of the monitored analyte level at the first point in time;
