First Claim
1. A method for a transmitting station to perform a point-to-multipoint data transmission in a cellular radio communication system from the transmitting station to a plurality of receiving stations, the method comprising the steps of:
- logically grouping the plurality of receiving stations into a plurality of receiving station groups wherein each group includes at least one receiving station of the plurality of receiving stations, and each receiving station belonging to only one group of the plurality of receiving station groups;
transmitting data from the transmitting station to the plurality of receiving stations;
receiving a first confirmation message at the transmitting station from at least one first receiving station of a first receiving station group of the plurality of receiving stations, wherein the first confirmation message indicates one of a successful and unsuccessful decoding result for decoding the data after initiation of decoding of the data by the at least one first receiving station;
transmitting a reply to the first confirmation message, the reply comprising the first confirmation message received from the at least one first receiving station, to at least one further receiving station thereby informing the at least one further receiving station of a decoding result of the at least one first receiving station; and
receiving a further confirmation message at the transmitting station from the at least one further receiving station when conditions meet a predetermined criteria for conditions.

Abstract
Data transmission in a multicast fashion in which retransmissions are requested by recipients sending feedback to the one sender. Receiving stations are informed about the feedback of another receiving station. This is done by mirroring the feedback of receiving stations to other receiving stations. Due to this, in case, for example, one of the mirrored feedbacks is a negative acknowledgement message, the other receiving stations are informed that it is no longer necessary to provide their feedback, since a retransmission will be initiated anyway. Advantageously, this may allow reduced interference in the direction of the feedback.
