1. A regional oximetry sensor, comprising:

  • a light emitting element disposed on a tissue contacting surface of the regional oximetry sensor and configured to emit light;

    a first light detector and a second light detector each disposed on the tissue contacting surface and each configured to detect the light, wherein the first light detector is disposed at a first distance from the light emitting element and the second light detector is disposed at a second distance from the light emitting element, and wherein the first distance is greater than the second distance;

    a memory device; and

    processing circuitry associated with the memory device, wherein the processing circuitry is configured to;

    determine a baseline based at least in part on the detected light, wherein the baseline comprises a plurality of rSO2 measurements of a patient obtained by the regional oximetry sensor over a period of time, and wherein the plurality of rSO2 measurements are based at least in part on the detected light;

    store the baseline within the memory device;

    transmit the baseline to a display of a regional oximetry monitor when the regional oximetry sensor is coupled to the regional oximetry monitor;

    detect removal or dislodging of the regional oximetry sensor from the patient; and

    label the baseline with a timestamp associated with the detected removal or dislodging of the regional oximetry sensor from the patient and store the labeled baseline within the memory device.
