1. A method for designing a patient-specific implant for repairing or replacing a joint of a patient, comprising:
- preoperatively obtaining patient-specific image data of the joint of the patient and designing a patient-specific implant using the patient-specific image data;
simulating, in a computer system, biomotion of the joint of the patient with the patient-specific image data and/or other patient-specific data;
deriving a patient-specific biomotion model; and
optimizing the patient-specific implant using the patient-specific biomotion model.

Abstract
Methods and devices are disclosed relating improved articular models, implant components, and related guide tools and procedures. In addition, methods and devices are disclosed relating articular models, implant components, and/or related guide tools and procedures that include one or more features derived from patient-data, for example, images of the patient'"'"'s joint. The data can be used to create a model for analyzing a patient'"'"'s joint and to devise and evaluate a course of corrective action. The data also can be used to create patient-adapted implant components and related tools and procedures.

5. A method for selecting a patient-specific implant for repairing or replacing a joint of a patient, comprising:
-
preoperatively obtaining patient-specific image data of the joint of the patient and selecting a pre-existing implant based on the patient-specific image data; simulating, in a computer system, biomotion of the joint of the patient with the patient-specific image data and/or other patient-specific data; deriving a patient-specific biomotion model; and optimizing by further shaping the selected implant using the patient-specific biomotion model. - View Dependent Claims (6, 7, 8)
